By Public Transport

There are excellent transport links to Thorne and the wood, Including Two Train Stations, Local Bus services and the M18.

Buses.

The 68, 87, 88, 88A and X89 serve Thorne.

The 87, 88, 88A and X89 leave from the stand opposite the Leopard public house on West Street in Doncaster, the 68 leaves from stand B4. All of them stop in Thorne within 5-10 minutes walk of the Wood.

The easiest way to access the wood is to alight at the bus stop just over the Canal Bridge on the way into Thorne. Then walk back towards the Canal and turn right when you reach the Canal Tavern pub. Walk along the canal bank until you reach the Lock, cross the lock swing bridge and take the path to your right and you are at the entrance to Bunting’s Wood.

 Trains

There are regular train services to both Thorne North and Thorne South stations. Thorne North is the nearest station to the wood.   Train times are available from all manned railway stations or by calling the rail inquiries line on 0845 7484950.

By Road

From the M18

 Exit the M18 at Junction 6,road towards Thorne. You will pass under a railway bridge and pass a café on your right hand side. Take the first turning on your right. The road bends round to the left, take the first right turn after this bend onto Lock Lane. Follow the road down. As the road bends to the left just to your right you will see the entrance to Staniland’s Boatyard. Park on the road here and walk over the Lock swing bridge, taking the path to your right into the wood.

 From Doncaster

 As you cross the Canal Bridge into Thorne take the first left onto Plantation road, and proceed along past the Fire Station on your left-hand side. Continue until you reach a sharp bend to your right. In front of you will be Staniland’s Boatyard. Park on the road here, and walk across the Lock swing bridge taking the path to your right and you are at the entrance to Buntings Wood.
